Irvine, Calif., Jan 24, 2017 WHAT: Over 100 education leaders from across the country will convene at the two-day Deeper Learning Symposium, hosted by the education and neuroscience social impact nonprofit EMK. The event will feature interactive, hands-on sessions designed to challenge participants’ notions of what innovative mathematics learning looks like and how it can be implemented effectively in the K-12 classroom. MIND’s co-founder and CEO, Dr. Matthew Peterson will present on how advances in brain research have the potential to transform learning in his “The Four Neural Subsystems of Learning”. Game-based learning experts Kurt Squire, Ph.D., and Greg Toppo will discuss how game-play can provide high quality instruction. Toppo will also host a panel to discover how innovation and persistence can solve the math crisis in the U.S. Thursday evening will feature a “Taste of Math” with culinary partners providing symposium participants with mathematically-charged cuisine.
